We don’t spend a lot of time talking about handguns here, but truth is if you probably have one nearby more often than any of the other guns we talk about. So when our friend and YouTuber The Firearm Guy asked if we’d like to share this with you, we jumped on it. It fits perfectly with our, “If it’s not special, we’re not interested” mantra! Without further adieux, here are his Twenty Most Interesting New Handguns for 2019.
Sig Sauer P320 XCompact 9mm
Sig lit the concealed world on fire when they introduced the P320 XCompact. It comes equipped with night sights a 3.6 inch barrel, a flat face trigger and magazines that carry 15 rounds. The Sig Sauer XCompact has been the most anticipated and talked about pistol since Shot Show 2019.
Steyr L9-A2 MF 9mm
Steyr introduced their redesigned handgun this year and Steyr fans are loving it. The grip now has interchangeable backstraps and grip panels and a flared magwell. The MF stands for Modular Frame and exchange kits with be available to give shooters plenty of options.
Ruger Security-9 Compact 9mm
We wondered when Ruger would take their budget-minded Security-9 and produce a smaller model for CCW and in 2019 they did it with the Security-9 Compact. It includes all the features shooters love in it’s big brother but in a smaller package.
Stoeger STR-9 9mm
Stoeger came out of the gate in 2019 by producing a budget-friendly, compact size 9mm pistol that has the features typically seen on higher end models. It has excellent ergonomics and craftsmanship. Priced under $300, the Stoeger STR-9 shoots like a dream.
KelTec CP33 .22 LR
KelTec changed the direction of magazine capacity in 2019 with their CP33 that has magazines that carry 33 rounds. It uses a 5.5 inch barrel and is 10.5 inches overall. Extremely accurate, high capacity and a lot of range fun is the best way to describe the KelTec CP33.
Ruger Wrangler .22 LR
Ruger decided to produce beautiful cerakote revolvers this year and chamber them in .22 long rifle. The Wrangler is a single-action revolver that carries six rounds in the cylinder. This revolver would be the ideal firearm to train a beginner shooter or just to have a great time plinking at the range.
Taurus TX22 .22 LR
Taurus created a striker-fired, single action .22 LR pistol this and shooters are loving it. It comes with a 4.1 threaded barrel, three-dot adjustable sights and a grip that is incredibly comfortable. The Taurus TX22 is reviewing well and shooters are loving it’s features and accuracy.
Mossberg MC1sc 9mm
When Mossberg decided to jump into the single-stack 9mm market, the gun world was set ablaze. The Mossberg MC1sc is their first handgun in 100 years and the came out with a beauty. Similar to size as the original G43, the MC1sc features a flat trigger and a “safe” disassemble process.
Kahr K9 25th Anniversary 9mm
The Kahr K9 was the first pistol that Kahr Arms produced. It has now been 25 years since the first K9. To commemorate the occasion, Kahr Arms produced a beautifully designed Kahr K9 25th. The pistol has amazing slide cuts and special engraving and grips for the celebration. The 25th anniversary Kahr K9 does the long history of Kahr Arms making exceptional handguns proud.
Arex Arms ReX Delta 9mm
Arex Arms, known for its outstanding hammer-fired pistols, produced a striker-fire, polymer frame handgun called the ReX Delta. The Delta is lighter than most handguns in the compact class but it’s smooth shooting and accuracy is what drives shooters to this pistol. The ReX Delta offers everything a shooter would want for concealed carry, home defense or a great time plinking at the range.
Glock G43X 9mm
We had a feeling that Glock was going to come up with something to offset the steam that Sig created with the P365. Glock took the original G43 and extended the grip to hold a 10 round magazine while keeping it’s subcompact status. They put a silver PVD coating and forward slide serrations and created the Glock 43X.
Glock G48 9mm
The gun world knew Glock was doing something special with the G43X but the Glock 48 took us all by surprise. The Glock 48 uses the same frame and magazines as the Glock 43X however the barrel is 4.1 inches. Basically the G48 has a longer slide and barrel for those who want a Glock 19 size handgun but may have restricted capacity laws.
Beretta APX Carry 9mm
Beretta took their popular APX line and increased it with a single stack 9mm handgun called the APX Carry. The Beretta APX Carry is a double action only trigger and a seven round magazine. It has the full length slide serrations that brands the Beretta APX series.
Kimber EVO SP 9mm
For 2019, Kimber replaced the discontinued Solo with the EVO SP and this time they got it right. The Kimber EVO SP has an aluminum frame, interchangeable backstraps and grip panels and an excellent trigger. The Kimber EVO SP comes in three different models. The EVO SP featured is the “two tone” model that is beautiful looking.
CZ-USA P-10S 9mm
A couple years ago, CZ released their compact size, polymer frame, striker-fired pistol called the CZ P-10C. This year, CZ took the greatest features from the P-10C and shortened the barrel and slide to create the subcompact CZ P-10S. The CZ-10S comes with a front night sight and offers a model that is optic ready.
Hi Point C9 (Gen 2?) 9mm
Hi Point blew Shot Show 2019 away with their prototype 9mm pistol. The new pistol sports a grip safety, threaded barrel, double stack magazine, 1913 rail and an elongated rear sight that can be removed to add a rail for a red-dot optic. Combined, the Hi Point pistol was completely redesigned and should be available late 2019.
Walther Q5 Match Steel Frame 9mm
Walther took their popular competition handgun called the Q5 Match and created a steel frame model called the Q5 Match SF. The new Q5 Match SF is heavier, tougher and maintains the same features like slide cuts and a fiber optic front sight as the original Q5 Match. It also is optic ready for those wishing to add a red-dot to this handgun.
Remington RM380 Executive .380 ACP
The Remington RM380 is a micro .380 ACP pistol known for reliability. It has a metal frame and a long double action trigger. Remington took the same pistol, added a touch of class to the RM380 and called it the “Executive” model. The Remington RM380 Executive has a stainless steel slide and beautiful wood grain (polymer) grips. It’s the same pistol with enhanced beautiful features.
Nemo Arms Monark MK-9 9mm
The Nemo Arms Monark MK-9 is a full-size aluminum frame 9mm pistols that has amazing ergonomics. It is optic ready, has a 4 – 4.5 pound trigger pull and a 5” match grade barrel. The Monark will accept Sig Sauer magazines as this handgun will be popular with competitors.
FN 509 Midsize 9mm
This year, FNH shortened the full-size FN 509 and created a FN 509 “Midsize.” The FN 509 Midsize is more suitable to the concealed carry market. It has a shorter 4” barrel and a 15 round magazine. The hinged trigger remains the same along with many of the other features that made the FN 509 a reliable and fine shooting handgun.
Your posted picture is of a standard Q5 Match, not the steel frame variant. Both are badass but the SF is better for serious competitors
