The first time I saw the Inteliscope mount in person I felt it came up short. I had one on hand, it was plastic and I just didn’t get a good vibe. I liked the idea of it, I just wasn’t crazy about the implementation. The same thing was true of Seek Thermal device, but I didn’t have one on hand. Well, all that may be changing. I just got off the phone with David Rogers at Inteliscope and it appears the Inteliscope PRO+ Rifle Mount with Seek Thermal’s CompactXR could have something to offer that’s worth investigating.
Inteliscope has integrated the Seek Thermal Compact XR thermal imaging camera into the aluminum Inteliscope Pro+ mount. The whole sytem will retails for $497. Can you hog hunt with it? I don’t yet know.
According to Inteliscope,
The $497 Inteliscope PRO+ Rifle Mount bundle provides a quality night vision experience for a fraction of the cost of stand-alone units. The Inteliscope PRO+ mounts any smartphone to the shooters rifle and the Seek XR is integrated into the PRO+ mount using a snap-in bracket with a short extending cable to the phone, providing firm support to improve accuracy and eliminate issues with high recoil. Seek’s CompactXR can detect temperatures from -40° up to 626° Fahrenheit, with the ability to detect heat up to 1,800 feet away.
So on paper that looks pretty impressive. But that leaves a lot of unknowns. The picture here is from the press release, and the thermal image of the hog is photoshopped example image. My guess is that you’d have to be really close to a pig to get that large of an image with that much resolution. But, for less than five hundred bucks it could certainly prove interesting. http://inteliscopes.com
